Update--we got the raised beds raised this afternoon. Partner and I are still speaking to each other, too. At times it was a bit tense, but the expertise gained on Sunday when we did the first two stood us in good stead, and we got 4 done in the time it took to do the first 2. But, if you are tempted by link-a bord beds, get them as high as you want first time! It is possible to add layers, and I am happy to let anyone know what we found was the least-worst way, but really, don't. Maybe it is a case of start as you mean to go on?  But the beds look wonderful, and are 45cm high--rather more than my knees are high. I don't have the strength or know-how to do raised beds from scratch, and my experience of trying is that they collapse at the worst possible time, so this seemed a good idea, and I think it is. I got the recent layers through Green & Easy--much more helpful than the company I used last year.

Runner beans will have to move, I could barely pick them last year, and certainly couldn't reach them another 18inches up!

I bet you feel wonderful now that it's done.  I was expecting a friend to come and make some for me in the autumn but I think he forgot about me...   I look forward to reading about the way you utilise them this year.

I'll try that again!

Excellent info in your posts, Barbara. Thank you.

Your comment re partner reminds me of the day that Fiona and I erected her flat pack bargain greenhouse. It was touch and go as to whether we would still be a couple by the evening Confused

Oh yes - we have put up 2 toolstores under similar circumstances.  I'm about to order a shed for my lottie, am planning on getting it delivered and installed by experts to avoid potential relationship catastrophe this time!

Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy, and taste good with ketchup.
