Definitely feet up and enjoy it for now, Sue. (Want to swap? big_laugh) I'm sure the nurse will help you get back on track when you're ready - but remember (in my humble opinion) it's not so much about weight and size as eating for good health and happiness. Glad to see you survived the ordeal! smile

Diet starts tomorrow, I'm not waiting for new year.  Had yet another roast dinner today, seems as if we've eaten nothing but big stodgy cooked meals for months!  I'm actually craving fresh, light, salady veggie things now.....that's something I never thought I'd be saying!  Just had an orange for tea, didn't fancy anything else.

Going to do a light chicken noodle broth for lunch tomorrow, fresh fish of some kind baked in a parcel with lemon and herbs, with some veggies, for evening meal.

I know how you feel Sue. I have been off track the last two days and can feel it. We also had a roast dinner this evening and P finished off the christmas pud thankfully. I have another one but will wrap it and store it for next year. I will go to the market in the morning and buy some salad stuff. We are not doing anything special for new year so no problems there. We can encourage each other.

That's good, Aly, I need all the encouragement I can get!  It helps that husband wants to diet also, he knows he's put on some weight as he says his trouser waistbands are tighter and digging into him.  I'm going to get on the exercise bike tomorrow too, for the first time in months.  Will probably only be able to do 5 mins at first without being knackered, but that's a start!

I used to have a treadmill which I enjoyed but had to sell it when we downsized. A bike sounds like a good idea!

I just stumbled on this site, it gives Weight Watchers points in the recipe; might it be useful to our dieters?

I'll try that again!

I don't follow the WeightWatchers diet (I think Aly does), but am sure the recipes from pretty much any dieting resource would be useful.....thanks Toni.

As an aside, I reckon it must be 20+ years since I ate an avocado......I can't even recall what they taste like.  I'm fairly sure I didn't like it then (however it was served, I can't remember as it's so long ago), hence why I've not eaten one since.  Perhaps I ought to try it again!

I adore avocados, the problem is getting them to ripen properly.  I bought one last Friday in Waitrose and am still waiting for it to get to the right degree.  I expect that when I open it, it will be brown inside - not at all delicious.  I usually eat it squished onto toast and add salt, pepper and paprika to it.

I'll try that again!

Fingers crossed, Aly - you never know!

After an initial good loss, I'm not now losing as much as I'd like.......either I'll have to do a 3rd Fast day (husband won't want to though, which will make it a bit awkward) or will have to try changing what we eat on the other days.  I have a feeling we're eating too many carbs.....carbs are usually the culprit when I'm not losing.  Need to up my exercise as well.

Oh, welcome aboard, Hannah!

I have been searching my computer for the past weight loss stuff, and have downloaded some points values of foods, and just made a zero point carrot and tarragon soup.

Are we having fun yet? I am!

Yes carbs are a killer Sue.

According to my first look at 5 to 2  I should be consuming 1600 calories on 5 days and 500 on 2 fast days to lose weight based on my current weight.

Weighed myself this morning, I've lost 5.5 kg.  Whilst I'm happy to have lost, considering I lost 4 kg in the first 10 days of the diet, it means the loss has slowed considerably since.  The Fast days aren't a problem at all, we manage to stick to our 500 cals (for me) and 600 (for husband) with no trouble.  I am sure the slow loss is therefore down to eating a carb-heavy diet on the other days.  So I've decided that besides the Fast days, on 2 further days a week we will have very few carbs.  Will weigh myself again mid-Feb to see how that works out.
