Elderberries are good for wine, but I don't think much else.


A few years ago, my father had stored elderberries for wine in his freezer, where I had also stored wimberries (bilberries, whimberries, blaeberries) for my late mother to make into tarts.


They are the best fruit for tarts I know, I think.


One day she took the wrong pack out, and made an elderberry tart in error.


Went in the bin.

Anti viral jam is the thing to make with elderberries - recipe is on here somehwere, also eldeberry syrup, diluted down with hot water is a lovely warming drink in winter and so full of goodness
