Whilst browsing various blog comments on the Internet I've seen several references to 'bookmarking' a particular blog.  Is the the same as adding the blog page to 'My Favourites', or something different?  I understand that in a lengthy Word document, a particular paragraph can be 'bookmarked' so that it can be easily found, but I'm not sure whether bookmarking means something different in Internet terms.  Is bookmarking a term used only for blog pages?  I usually 'keep' any web page of interest by adding to my 'My Favourites' list, but it does get rather overloaded. Any advice?

That's interesting you should ask that, Heather, as, since Christmas, I've had to use Firefox to login to CSH, and 'Favourites' isn't on this one, only Bookmarks. I have been using Bookmarks in the same way as I use Favourites on Explorer.

But maybe it is different ....... I'm sure someone will enlighten us! big_laugh

Ah!  Samedifference: Bookmarks = Favourites in another language? That explains a lot, doesn't it.  Thanks for the quick response.

wave  I have a Mac and use Safari, although I have Firefox too.  Both of them use the term Bookmarks for easy access to sites we love.  They are not just used for blogs, but for any site at all.  If my tastes change or I have no more use for a particular site, I just bin it.  I am sure it is probably the same  as Favourites on another browser.

Thanks, Danuta, it seems that your Bookmarks does indeed = My Favourites.  My overloaded list is just down to my wanting to hang onto so many pages - a lot of good blog sites stored there.  It's a bit like emails - so easy to save, and just a faff to trawl and delete.  I start out with good intentions to trawl/delete and then get sidelined by opening a Favourite and off I go at a tangent!

Heather - I think we are all in this together !!

Even looking for one of the favourites and happening on another seems to re-direct the thought process!  big_laugh   big_laugh

Personally, I blame Microsoft. Before Internet Explorer came along, every web browser called them Bookmarks. Even when I used to use IE, I'd still call them bookmarks and people would look at me like they didn't know what I was talking about. Now I'm using a mac and everything's called Bookmarks again so I can relax...
