Adding photographs or images to your post

To insert images in your posts, they must first be uploaded from your computer to some storage location on the Internet. Then you insert a link in your post to that location.

You cannot upload images or files to our server but there are loads of places on the Internet where you can store your photos free of charge. Probably the most popular one is:

http://www.photobucket.com

Signing up for an account takes about one minute and you can start uploading your images immediately.

Resizing images

Sometimes the size of images can be huge, especially those produced by modern digital cameras with high resolution capability. The forum system will reduce the height and width when displayed in posts. But the size of the image file could still be huge and other people may experience delays because of the time it takes huge images to be downloaded to their browsers.

One of the great features of photobucket.com is that you can resize your images to more manageable proportions. You can still retain the original image and create copies in different sizes if you want.

You can use our Test Forum to experiment with different settings and sizes.

Inserting images in your posts

1 – images from photobucket.com

Photobucket.com will create a gallery for you of all the images that you upload. Hover your mouse icon over one of the images in your gallery and link information will appear beneath the image.

Copy and paste the Direct Link code anywhere into the text of your message.

2 – images from other locations

You can insert any image link (not just photobucket images) using the Image icon in the toolbar that appears above the text area when you are making a post.

Image Enlarger

Click on the Image icon in your toolbar. A pop-up will appear.

Paste your link into the Image URL field and click on Insert.

Hi Chris,

When you are in Photobucket, viewing your album:
papermana4's Profile  /  All Albums  /  ChrisB Pics

Hover your mouse pointer over that photo. Underneath will appear a box with four links. You want the fourth one: IMG Code
Copy and paste that value into your post:

well Danny, I did what you suggested, the image size on photobucket is 145 x 200 yet I am still being told that it exceeds the width allowed.

The image is at:

http://s1185.photobucket.com/albums/z345/papermana.....9833359090

I deleted the [IMG] from the front and back of the address on the code you advised to past in but I just cannot get it to work.

What am I still doing wrong please.

Thanks for that, yes I managed to do that too, what a shock. But maybe I have been barking up the wrong tree, what I wanted was not to post my pic like that but to have it underneath my name in the left hand panel when I post, like everyone else. I feel inadequate HELP !!
