Hi there.  First of many questions as I find my way around the site:  On the forum 'Introduce Yourself' (and others?) there is a box with "23 Topics with unread posts".  If I 'mouse over' the open book icon, I get the message 'Mark All As Read'. Can someone please explain?

Also, If I mouse over the downward pointing arrow next to the open book, nothing seems to happen - again can someone explain, please what the arrow represents, and what is meant to happen if it is clicked?

Second Question:  I see I've been disgnated as a 1st Grader.  Where can I learn nmore about these designations and their meanings.  And what 'good behaviour' do I have to exhiibit for promotion through the ranks?

Cheers.wave

Welcome, welcome!  I'm sure I must have done that before??

No need to mouse over the book thing, just go to the box 'New and recently updated topics' where you'll find everything that's new to read.

As for progressing through the ranks, you need only post copious amount of stuff for us to read...I don't think we take much notice of ranks anyway.

Hi Heather,

You would only click on the open book and Mark All As Read if you wanted to clear your list of unread topics. Maybe if you had returned from vacation. That way, anything new from that point onwards would be highlighted in red in the drop down list on New/Recently Updated Topics whilst you gradually worked your way through all the other fascinating posts and topics that had been added in your absence.

The down arrow should automatically scroll to the foot of the forum. It works for me. What browser are you using?

The rankings are explained in the topic Light Bulbs lower down in this Help and How-To forum.

Good luck!

If I told you TA you just wouldn't believe it......absolutely nothing apart from the fact that I have two men working their little socks off putting up ceilings/loft floors, working on a bathroom and generally enjoying themselves and I've enjoyed watching them and not a list in sight.  I think I mentioned that both ex's used to say when I asked for anything to be done 'put it on the list'.  Now the first one never had a list and the second just couldn't be, well you know, and now it's just brilliant.  My male guest goes home on Monday and a girlfriend (one of the ladies that lunch) comes out for a well earned rest from another of the breed.....two weeks of doing what she likes.

The weather is ticking along at the 24/25 mark, I'm awakened each morning by the patter of 400 tiny feet as the sheep treck over the hill and most mornings the sun is just creeping over the mountain at 6.30/6.45 and I go to sleep with the crickets and the noise of the night with the door to the bedroom open.

All's well in my world......big_hug and thanks for noticing that I haven't been around.....

Sounds like - err - fun?  At least you seem to be enjoying yourself.  Please send some of your weather here, it's cloudy, cold and damp right now, temp at 13C but the wind has eased a little from what it was yesterday.  Glad to have you back with us. big_hug

It is fun....lots of work but fun....ok here comes the weather.magicmagic...27 today and hot and today one of my men has painted all of the walls for me...he's a star and the other is putting in my door frames upstairs....and I don't even have to tell them what to do...we have a master/mistress plan and so far so good.  One day I'll post pickies when I work out how to do it....I've been waiting for MOS to tell me....and I think I've backed the wrong horse....big_laughbig_laugh
