I do grow some garlic but I find it keeps quite well in a cool place. I harvested it in the fall and stored it in my garage, hanging it like onions. I am just using the last head and it is in good condition, still firm and not at all dried out.

I do grow it, but never enough to worry about storage,  usually use most of it up and e last few small ones are roasted with the last of the tomatoes and then frozen

My home grown Garlic hangs up in the Greenhouse, just on the last of it now. My ordinary Garlic stored better than the Elephant Garlic.
