How about using masking tape? Not so creative but it struck me that I don't need labels to label my jars if they are just for me and masking tape is easy to write on and what's more, cheap!cheers

Taken me a year to think of it and lots of moans from hubby when jars were unlabelled. He does like to know what's in the jar, especially when the gooseberry chutney looked surprisingly like the gooseberry jam whistle

Joanna, last year I made some quince jelly which was a beautiful red, but unfortunately I also made some red pepper jelly, and they do look the same ........ left them in an order that I understood, and ready to label, and found that someone had removed them to clear a space ...  doh

It is now guesswork !
