I have made some Gage and blackberry jam, it's set fine and tastes good, my problem is I had ran out of sensible sized jars so have put it in quite lareg Majo jars!    Can I reheat it and transter it into smaller jars?  Will it work?  will  it ruin it?  Will it effect the flavour?  Will it set even harder?

Has anyone done this?

Any info much appreciated.

🙂

Hello Noodle

You can reheat the jam and put it into different (hot/sterile) jars. Just let it get to simmering point and then repot.

If you boil it up it will go harder but you could alleviate this by adding a bit more water.

The quality of the jam will not be quite as good.

Thank you for the reply.  will it just loose some flavour?  Tricky really as my reason to repackage it is so I can give it to people in sensible sized jars,  I won't want to give it to people if it's not very nice!!

The loss of flavour is minimal.

Cheers for that,  I might give it a go and add a little water.
