Oh definitely......can't imagine how boiled!! tomatoes and onions would taste of anything other than water!  They need to be fried, slowly, in good olive oil, to get the depth of flavour necessary to make a good sauce for the pasta.

Absolutely ... I suspect it is a sort of laziness.

Taking time to prepare a meal is putting the love into it. Not like that recipe!!

Surely a better way, admittedly slower, would be to slowly stew the veg until soft then add extra water and cook the pasta. Still one pot but I'm sure it would taste better.
