Danny, there is a Farmers Market on 2 Sundays a month behind the Kirkgate Market. You have to go around outside to get to it, as the market hall is closed on Sunday. I remember getting things like local sheep cheese and fresh veg and plants and meat at the farmers market.  And my daughter said that when she got Seville oranges in the market hall in January the stalls at the front were more expensive than those further back. Regard them both as tourist attractions where you can sometimes get excellent food!

That's a great tip, Barbara! Thanks. I am a sucker for a good farmers' market for sure.

I did notice that the fruit & veg stalls behind the market building at the back of the car park are a heck of a lot cheaper. Like one guy was offering an "arm" of bananas for a quid. That's a row of bananas from his hand right up to his shoulder!

No doubt there will be some info online about the days and opening times of the farmers' market.

Keep us posted wit progress updates and photos of your sausage project, Simon. Very interesting.

Never knowingly underfed

I was up in your neck of the woods earlier this week Danny, at Liversedge just north of Huddersfield- I meant to visit Kirkgate area for an outing, but buses did not fit in with my schedule, so went to Huddersfield instead. (I rode up on my trike which was being refurbished, hence public transport- did hire a car for the day, but was going in the opposite direction, manchester way.) I would have loved to have tried the sausages on offer.

Are we having fun yet? I am!

The sausages look really good simon, I like good quality sausages but often, even the best ones have jawspringers in them and if I get a. It, it puts me off the whole thing.
