It was a good moon here, too. We travelled all day, so were a bit shattered, but we left our shutters open just a little, and the moonlight lit up the room. Very wistful.

Cooking tonight - well, daughter cooked while I entertained the grandchildren, painting and drawing.

We had cooked chicken pieces and sausages, cut up, and added to braised onion and shredded Savoy cabbage, with sliced mushrooms - then cream of mushroom soup poured over it all. Finally covered in cheesy breadcrumbs. Oven-cooked till crispy and golden on the top. Served with sliced new Charlotte potatoes.

Sounds delicious brightspark!!

I have just made creme brulees with eggs yolks left from making a pavlova for my friend the other day.  We will have them for dessert with raspberries tomorrow when the family come down.

Today I had to go into Dunoon to give someone a lift  and did a little bit of shopping while I was there.  I have been very busy of late and fancied a nice quiet restful day, so I bought fresh cooked chickens from Morrisons and lots of salad items and that is dinner tonight and possibly tomorrow too. Plus chicken stock and eventually chicken soup.

Sorry, folks, bit late in responding in this thread - the PC was changed today - now it is a bit speedier, BUT, I can barely read the print, it's so small   Big_Laugh  Big_Laugh  Big_Laugh

Struth, what a moanalot I am!!!!!!

Journey down here was very  - how can I put this - tight !

SO much luggage, we had a roofbox on, too. Hubby & SIL in front, but daughter, granddaughter and me in next row, and hidden in his 'den' amongst the luggage, and over the back, was gorgeous little grandson. The bags for food, drink, and toys spilled over to around our feet - and you know what, reading stories on such a long journey is quite yawn-making.   Laugh  Laugh  Still, we made it, safe and sound, and in good time, too.

TA, I know you're not very big and wouldn't take up much room, but I really think we may have struggled to find some space for you ! Big_Laugh

Tonight's meal was quite unusual. SIL had made a tasty beef-mince-mix, and rolled it into his own bread mix. Once cold, daughter sliced this 'meat bread' into chunky thick slices, laying them on a baking sheet. Topped with sliced plum tomatoes, and mature Cheddar cheese, then baked. She then made a ratatouille-mix with assorted vegetables, and served with sliced new potatoes, roasted.  I_am_Hungry

Nanny Cook, pavlova is brilliant for using up egg whites, isn't it - yet on this occasion you've used up the egg yolks - great idea though.

Pavlova and raspberries - mmmm.  Chef

Small text - try holding down Ctrl then hitting the + sign until the text is the size you want.  To return it to normal, hold Ctrl and press 0 (zero).

I could have hung off the radio aerial...Wink

I love the sound of the 'meat-bread', the rest of your meal sounds delish too.

I'll try that again!

Great to see that you have put up a photo, Nanny Cook - it really does make a huge difference to our connection with you. Thanks.

Pleased that you arrived safe and sound, BS, if a little squashed. Nothing that a hot bath and bit of ironing will not sort out Laugh

Danuta - I think an occasional hot roast chicken is a great teat in that it means NO COOKING! Ok

We have tried two recipes (twice each) over the past ten days or so: BS's baked mutton recipe done the way her dad loved and Shereen's roast chicken thighs. Both are 5 star winners. F will post the recipes, and our own small twists on them, over the next few days. Thank you very much, both of you.

Thank you Toffeeapple!  The photo was taken when we were on a Caribbean cruise in November to celebrate our Ruby Wedding Anniversary!  Wonderful time, we are hooked now and are booked on the Oasis of the Seas this November, flying to Fort Lauderdale and then cruising the Caribbean for a week and a week in Orlando - can't wait!!  Good job I have a brother who is prepared to house sit and look after the chooks and cats while we are away!
