I'd never heard of it until I saw the Hairy Bikers make it on TV.  We also like it but I haven't made it for years.  Maybe I should resurrect the recipe and have another try!  Thanks for reminding me.

We're going to try the frozen mussels today, I'll make a risotto using cider as the stock, with lots of vegetables, so the mussels will simply be one of the ingredients rather than the main event.  Just in case we don't like them!

Prawn Salad, love Prawns, and want to cut down on processed Meats. And a Fruit Jelly, with Cream. Will make my own 'Oven' Chips.   The Family enjoyed the Chilli I made yesterday, trying to steer Daughter away from Convenience Food, she wants to revert to being Vegetarian, and I said I would write her out some Recipes that the Men in the Family would enjoy, and not ask " where is the Meat !". Idon't like Quorn  myself, unless it is Burgers, but going to suggest for Tonight's Meal, Quorn Burgers in a Roll, with Wedges, and a big Salad.  Think the Boys will give it the Thumbs up.chefwave

The rest of the panaculty I made the other day, the remainder of which I froze.  We'll have it with sausages and broccoli.

Mmm, I love prawns too, Tina.  We're now eating less meat, for cost reasons - in view of husband's impending retirement, and therefore reduced income, we need to cut costs.  Hence we will be growing more veg and fruit too in the future.

I wasn't at all keen on the frozen mussels we had in the risotto I made the other day - the rice and veggies cooked in cider were lovely, I'd have been very happy just eating that without the mussels...in fact I picked most of them out.  Husband said they were ok, and would eat them again if I served them up another time, but said he didn't exactly love them!

It was a huge bag so there are still loads left.  I'm thinking I might chop some finely and use them along with white fish and smoked haddock in a fish pie, they'll bulk it out but will hardly be noticeable.

Having googled to check that it's ok to give them to dogs (it is), I might defrost a few and see what Betty thinks of them - she does like fish a lot.

So one way or another, they'll get used - I'm determined not to waste them!

If you want to replace some meat in your diet Sue, I use a lot of lentils in dishes that you would normally use minced beef in.

Sausages and roasted veg for us to tonight

Good idea Eileen - I already bulk out mince dishes with lentils but need to consider other things.

We're having pork steaks in a mustard and cream sauce, with roast spuds and green veggies.

Made a large batch of spag bol sauce yesterday.  We had spag bol last night and today I made lasagne with some of the sauce and froze the rest.  Blackberry and apple crumble with home made ice cream to follow.
