I have onions to dry tomorrow, do I have to blanch them or can I just slice them and put them in the de-hydrator

I think blanching might be best as the onions seem to react with the air. I tried it on Spring onions and it definitely worked better with blanching first. Perhaps someone else has tried with onions proper?
