Good Morning everyone.wave

I am new to this site and found it completely by accident looking for a Marrow Rum recipe, I liked what I saw and thought I would join.  My name is Denys and I live in South Derbyshire,  I have been married to Diane for 32 years and we have 4 grown up children and 2 Grand-children

I have grown my own veg, etc from being a kid and used to help my granddad in his greenhouse with tomatoes and cucumber.  When I was young my father had 3/4 acre of allotment where we kept hens and pigs, grew all our own veg and even had spare for other people.  I would love to get back to that way of life but unfortunately it doesn't seem possible in the current financial climate

I am trying in a small way by getting a few ex battery hens shortly,  I am also resuming making my own wine and preserves so may be asking questions or pinching hintscheers

we are a friendly lot and source of lots of info, glad you are doing the growing thing .

we have chickens and crazy turkeys ,so can exchange shed stories and blokey stuff ,before the girls get you involved in recipe's and embroidery details .

Welcome Denys, thought I would break up the lads only party whistle. I spent 15 years in Derbyshire but in the North of the county, lovely place to be. cheers

Thanks for joining in, Denys. Seems like we all share a similar ambition despite current constraints. But most of us are starting with something and who knows where that may lead over time. I saw on another thread that you are considering taking on ex-battery hens, so you are getting stuck in (sorry, i don't know the answer to your question).

Looking forward to reading your updates and contributions  ok

Welcome Denys to this very friendly forum - sounds like you're going to fit in nicely!
