Hi Folks, My names Pixiedust and I live in Fareham, Hampshire with my husband, two mad springer spaniels and black and white moggy. I've been a visiter of the cottage smallholder blog for ages and was really chuffed to see that there is now a forum. Thanks to CS I discovered the delights of sloe and wild Damson Gin and Hedgerow Jelly. xxx Pixie xxx

Hi Pixiedust

Having just managed to move my car after nearly a month of  being iced in,  it is snowing again.  I hope it doesn't last.  We did not have the depth of snow you had in the south, but living where I do it was an icy hill that snookered me.  They say on the news today that there may be floods now if  your snow melts too quickly!!!!

Winter tyres are what you need. The compound in summer tyres gets hard in winter and so loses grip. Even in milder winters apparently they would be useful, they just wear faster which is a problem.
