Tasmania is an island state off the coast of mainland Australia. I live here with my beloved husband on 11 acres. Keeping us company are 3 young Burmese pussies, 2 horses, 2 cows, a miscellany of chooks and ducks and our wild feathered neighbours. We have an orchard and vegetable gardens and more ornamental garden than we can keep in order.

Our lives follow the rhythm of the seasons. We are in our middle years and have escaped from the hurley burley at last. For many years I rehabilitated injured and orphaned wildlife while struggling with illness. Rod was a therapist. We needed a break and are blessed to have found a haven, a natural world to inhabit.

I found this blog some time ago searching for a ginger beer recipe and I appreciate the attention and effort that goes into it.

I'll try that again!

Yes welcome Willo.

Hey Mutley

My mum used to raise frogs and toads in aquariums in the kitchen of the cottage. So years later we have a huge frog population in the garden and a few toads Laugh

Heck, that is sad.  Seems that you cope though, especially with Jade.

I'll try that again!

Hello, Willo, and a very warm welcome from me too. Tasmania seems such a romantic and idyllic location from here in the UK. You guys sound like you have achieved a good degree of self-sufficiency already.

Tell me, do the cows produce milk for home consumption, or are they intended more for market (steers, heifers).

Never knowingly underfed

Just had another look at (About us) and what you said ( journey towards deluxe self sufficiency and beyond. Our aim is to live like kings on the lowest possible budget.)  the same as my dreams it can be done it just take's time and i want to acheve this if possable for free, Stuff other people throw out as you have seen the flat is making good progess taken 3 years on the 27 nov and have only brought the fire and plastic containers witch are well worth it and cheep.fire was not though and charty shops .
