I have visited this fab site for a few years now and somehow remained blissfully unaware of the forum!

I have been making preserves and some fudge for a few years now, did a bit of knitting and a lot of sewing in my early younger years.

I have a son about to start school this September, so most of my jam sessions take place late at night. My husband and i run a guesthouse - perfect for showcasing (and selling some of), my products!

That's it for now, I guess!

Hi Olga,

Welcome to the forum; I'm glad you found us, at last. smile Just yell if you need any help finding anything on the site (or elsewhere), there is usually someone who knows the answer (or how to find what you are looking for). Tell us more about your boarding house (we are a nosy bunch), I bet it is hard work?

Thankyou all so much for your welcome- I have spent too much time online last few days already!

Hattie, we have been running this place for some eight years now, and I laugh when I think of starting it- soft-focus images of cooking breakfast and arranging flowers. Then the reality of endless laundering, cleaning, dusting, scrubbing and fire alarms going off at 3am kicked in (we don't live on the premises, so are always on call!). Not to mention endless excitement of hotel inspector visits etc! Now I am sooo grateful we could split our workload in the way that allowed us to look after our little one- we haven't missed any of his first's, not to mention the childcare cost!! Now waiting for some sunshine to come along as bad forecasts seem to keep a lot of people away.....

So pleased that you have joined in, Olga.

My mum ran a B&B in West Cork for many years, starting in the late 70s. It was modestly successful so my dad decided to extend the house to seven bedrooms with a big new kitchen. He raised a bank loan for the princely sum of £2,500!

Us kids were not overly enthused at being turfed out of our bedrooms into the lean-to garage and bunk beds every summer but my mum loved it. She loved meeting people.

Never knowingly underfed
