Hi all - I feel like a stranger so this is probably the best place to start!

Many thanks for the Val Day card that came all the way from Oregon with many names on. Really, really nice of you all and greatly appreciated.

I know that the problem with PMs is a great annoyance - they work fine for me - so maybe I will plan the long overdue software upgrade (no groaning at the back). We shall see.

Hi Danny- welcome to Ipswich. I hope you are keeping well. Personally I don't use the pn system, so I have not missed it, but I am sure a lot of people will thank you if it gets done.

Are we having fun yet? I am!

Thanks, everybody. I will try to log in more frequently. It's not that I do not have time - I just forget. Obviously a lot of changes recently and new distractions that tend to be at the forefront of my mind these days.

For the next fortnight it will be Hello From Budapest. I am using a chunk of my severance pay to get my teeth fixed and you probably know the good reputation and value for money of Hungarian dentistry. Have read up about it on t'interweb and it seems that you can get even more reasonable rates outside of Budapest. It's big business. Some of the Hungarian dental outfits have dedicated offices and staff on Harley St. for initial assessments but you, the client, pay for all that.

So I trusted some recommendations I read online for one guy who is 55 km outside of Budapest. Came over last week for an assessment and proposed course of treatment. He is top notch with better English than me. I came back for treatment this week and spent three happy hours in his chair yesterday.surprised

Because I could not afford UK prices for several years, it is now a major job requiring crowns on all of my 12 remaining lower teeth plus two bridges to fill the gaps left by two extractions. Also, three fillings in my lower back teeth were worn out and needed replacing. So yesterday he did all that. I told him I hated the sound of the drill. So he gave me a pair of headphones, fired up Abba Gold and went to work with Take A Chance On Me playing into the sides of my head. Wonderfully surreal experience.

My lower teeth are now ready for the crowns, which will be tried out for size on Tue and cemented into place on Fri week. So 10 days with a row of vampire tootsies. They will be very sensitive. He advised me to drink through a straw. Especially beer - that was his joke.

It's quite mild in Budapest but today is a simple old fashioned rainy day. One for visiting museums and art galleries I think

Should have let me know….Bulgarian dentists are ace.  You should have done the price comparison first…next time….wink

How about a 'post a day from Budapest'?  Then we can keep an eye on your progress.  Ask your dentist to take a picture of the final fit and post it here...wink

I'm glad it is going well and hope that the pain is minimal.

Hugs.

I'll try that again!

Are you trying to tie me down to a contract, TA? wink

Elsa, I did not consider any country other than Hungary. I did not know about Bulgarian dentistry or I would certainly have asked. Same goes for Latvian dentistry, etc.

I did have a notion of hiring a car and doing some driving to both Bulgaria and Latvia. But I forgot to pack my driving license so end of story.
