Hi! I am tich and I live on one of the islands within the Orkney archipelago. I am using your Forum to see if anyone would like to come and live on an idyllic island with long, sandy beaches and with a quiet, slower pace of life. See details under 'Smallholding For Sale in Orkney' in the 'Under the Sun Lounger' Forum.

Thanks for letting me join.

Hi Rosemary,

I suspect a lot of us would see the Orkneys as a great escape - although it would have to be a great commitment.

Why are you selling up?

My daughter lives 280 miles away and my son-in-law is on dialysis. They have three young children and they need our support. It  is a fantastic place to live!

My post in the Sun Lounger seems to have disappeared. Is that becauseit was in the wrong place?

I can't find it either, but I suspect that it appeared to be a sort of advertising (also known as spam!), which, I think it was.

We join in and get to know one another before (if ever) we start using this forum to advertise, which on the face of it seems inappropriate. Introducing yourself in a post on the same day as you advertised your home would be seen as presumptive by many. This sounds harsh, I know, but I would suggest it may have been deleted for that reason.

I agree, joining up seemingly just to post an advert, and without even asking Admin if it is ok to do so, is just rude.  I appreciate you want to sell your property, and understand you have good reasons for wanting to move, but this isn't an estate agency.

I posted a reply on the 31st December, but it seems to have vanished into the ether. I have permission to post this from admin. I am so sorry I have contravened your rules. We have enjoyed our life so much up here, that I thought it would be a nice idea to let like-minded people know about our house and our lifestyle. I am very sorry I have upset members of the forum and I apologise.

Hi Rosemary  I don't think you have actually offended anyone on here at all.  It is just that we like to get to know people on here and we have had some rather commercially minded folks who have come on and tried to promote their businesses.   In fact you sound just like the kind of person we would welcome on this Forum, so please do not go away.  Your place looks wonderful.  I am a Fifer myself, but as a student spent a summer in Kirkwall working in a hotel and have never lost my love for those islands.  I am sure you will miss it dreadfully.   Hope to hear from you soon!

Hi Rosemary, and a warm welcome to our forum.  As Danuta has said above, we do quite often get people who join up just to post spam or advertise something, which does tend to come across as quite rude....surely it would only be polite to ask permission first.  We are a big happy family on here, lots of us have met up and got to know each other quite well and we do tend to be protective of our lovely forum.

We look forward to getting to know you better.
