Thank you Shelley. I used to live in a little village called Barlow, about 4 miles north of Chesterfield. I used to pass Whaley Bridge on the way to my parents in Lancashire, so close and never knew each other, lol.

The links worked perfectly for me.

I wonder if you ever passed each other?

I'll try that again!

They say you are only 5 people away from knowing someone, who knows someone you do...

That is especially true of Ireland, Shelley. It is a tiny country after all. My brother worked for a large electronics company in the Netherlands for a few years, along with other English speaking ex-pats. One of his amusing anecdotes concerned new joiners from Ireland. It became a game after a while - first day, in the canteen, "where are you from, who do you know?". Inevitably, one of the Irish knew somebody that the newcomer was acquainted with. Just 1 person away, not 5.

LOL - sometimes it can be uncomfortable! Embarassed

I just realised that this rambling thread was originally started by Joy with her "hello world" post. Sorry if we have hijacked your very own thread, Joy!

No not yet, I have thought about it and even got my friend here in Latvia to organise one but just not got around to it myself. Pricing would be tricky too. I think that should be on one of my to do lists but it maybe later on in the year before I have enough to put something together as there are some pictures I wouldn't want to part with, some my hubby won't let me part with (how come it is never the same one?) and some I have given away or sold already but at very cheap prices. I said my friend had an etsy site and I have just helped her tonight to put the descriptions into some sort of English. Why is it that when I am trying to help someone write something in a way an English person would, all my English goes out the window? Anyway if it is okay by Danny her site is http://www.sancha.etsy.com. I have to get her to write something in her profile next as she is a lovely lady.

Another talented friend of ours can be found on http://www.edeninterior.lv/galeryen/galery3_22.htm, this is our kitchen that he designed and made. Poor guy has only been in business for nearly two years and what a dreadful time to be in business, but he is surviving and working through the teething troubles of a new business. This is a local firm in our village, just one owner and four others working for him. He is another I have helped with his English for his website and I hope I got the right balance between correct English and yet keeping the flavour of Latvianess about it. He finished off a plinth for our woodstove to stand on today (a wood base with a glass top, it is beautiful) and so we can finally get it all installed - not sure when that will be but when it is you will be able to see the pictures on my blog site.
