I finally made it back on. It is the thought of all the posts to read to and not wanting to miss out on any interesting info that keeps me away, as I know I need more time than I have at the moeeek

Maybe not for long, hopefully, hopefully we get the alpacas on Saturday. They get checked over by the Swedish vet tomorrow and then they are free to go. We will be staying at the caravan possibly until they settle down. eeek

Somebody in our village has 2 alpacas, they're so cute and cuddly looking…..I have no idea if their temperament matches their looks!

Do yours have names yet, Jo?

They are cute and cuddly, they are also so quiet. They do spit if they don't like you or you freak them out, but on the whole fairly placid animals. One dealer described the difference by saying if you let out a group of sheep from a trailer they run around trying to kill themselves but if you let out alpacas then they kind of smooch out go and investigate.

Ours are called Herkules, Torkel and Tellus and you can see them on this page if you scroll down till you see the names under the title "Huacaya Hingstar"cheers

We had wondered about confusing the locals around here by pasturing them from time to time on the ski hill and then seeing how many accidents it causes on the bend in the road whistle

They do look nice BS. We were hoping to get different colours but it was getting to be a nightmare sorting it all out and so Sweden seemed to be the nearest place to sort it out and these three were available. Still been rather a saga.roll_eyes

I can imagine the problems you have come across!

I must say the golden/tan colour is lovely too (the one at the bottom of the page), and I noted that two of yours have the same mother - that's nice too. Sort of siblings!

Yep two are brothers and they live happily together.

We got these three as they are used to living together as a group. Alpacas don't like being spilt up. Everyone say awwwww!cheers

Awwwwww
I am so jealous, I love Alpacas but OH says they are too expensive. We saw a programme about a chap over here who bred them and the cost to buy was huge!

As they get more popular the price comes down. Mind you there is not much to choose, price wise, between a dog with a pedigree like a German Shepherd sort of thing, not the out of the ordinary type and a castrated male. Obviously you can't breed from them but they do like company and that is why they have at the very least to run with sheep, horses or something or be bought in twos and preferable threes. cheers
