I'm an American, but don't hold it against me. I'm highly over-educated but I moved to England 3 years ago to continue my education anyway.  I'm now writing my PhD dissertation and, because someone will ask even though it's not really that interesting to hear an academic talk about their research, it's on moral agency in young mothers.

I was feeling a bit lonely until I met a Hermit who shares my interests (not in moral agency or young mothers but all my much more interesting interests.) I'm now helping him take care of a cottage and garden to which we will soon add hens and bees.

I like to eat, read, write, investigate, examine, wonder, tinker, find out, listen, talk, make, do, and laugh. And I don't like to waste anything.  Life is too short and resources are too precious.

I have lots to ask and lots to share so I hope to be at this forum often.

And a big welcome to the forum Jenn.  Never be afraid to ask, we like a challenge.  I look forward to hearing more about your 'doings' in the future. wave

Hmm, don't know why we would hold it against you, we do have other American friends on this (very friendly) forum, along with other nationalities......welcome, Jenn wave

No idea what moral agency in young mothers is, sounds a bit too academic for me (I'm a former townie who moved to the countryside where I feel I most definitely belong, and now do country-wifely things with a dizzy blonde twist big_laugh).  But it sounds like it keeps you busy!

We look forward to hearing more about your life and interests.....why Hermit/ess?  Do you live in an isolated area?  We are hoping to have hens next year - no bees though, I'm a magnet for biting/stinging insects as it is eeek

Good to have you with us Jenn. I live in very rural France with ducks, chickens, a rabbit, 4 cats, a puppy and my husband. Steep learning curve slowly becoming more self sufficient. I look forward to hearing from you.

Trying to enjoy life as it is

Hi Jenn,

I'm English (please don't judge me because of that) now happily living in rural Bulgaria.

Renovating a property that WAS totally habitable in between growing food for us and animals which currently consist of sheep, chickens, rabbits and a couple of cats who have adopted us.   Next year hoping to increase the livestock to include ducks, geese, pigs and goats.

They are all very friendly here, if a bit mad.   runaway

Failing is not a fault, refusing to try is

Welcome Jenn

I'm sure you'll find lots of interest on here and find many ways to contribute. I'm a Yorkshire girl (well, middle aged woman) ooh, that makes me feel older than I feel.

Hi Jenn,

Welcome.  wave

Nah we won't hold it over you if you don't hold the fact that we used to own your country wink

Since I survived two years in the US, I won't hold your nationality against you either. cheers

I'm a Lancashire lass originally but now living in Latvia and I'm hoping to go onto do a PhD, along with a bit of farming - well we are up to 3 alpacas and 15 chickens. I am hoping to do some research along the lines of participatory development in the agricultural environment, just the minor detail of writing a proposal first! roll_eyes

Goodness me - a new neighbor. smile

We are just 9 miles from Great Bradley, Jenn. That means you have no excuse for not joining us on our next meet-up probably in July. and bring The Hermit!
