Hi there

My name is Marilyn (my grandchildren call me Nanny Cook as I am always cooking!).  I have been married to Patrick for 40 years and we live in East Sussex.  We have a large garden and keep around 20 chickens at the end of it in a large enclosure, but also left them roam the garden when we are around - watching all the time for the fox!  We also have two cats, brother and sister, (Smokey and the Bandit) Cat Cat.  We grow a lot of our own fruit and veg.

I still work part-time as a nursery administrator in the local childrens nursery.

I enjoy cooking Chef (obviously) and make jam from fruit grown in our garden.  Also enjoy the theatre, fundraising, browsing the internet etc.  Hate housework!  Frown

Can't think of much else to say at the moment.

Have a good day all of you.

Cheers Wave

A big welcome Marilyn!

Take no notice of Mutley, he's here to make up the numbers.Big_Laugh  We love him really!

It sounds as though you have a very good set-up there,  I'd love to keep chickens but doubt that I ever shall.

You seem to be interested in a lot of things so you'll fit right in here, we are a diverse community.  Thanks for taking the time to make that post.Ok

I'll try that again!

A big welcome from me too Marilyn. What do you do with all the eggs?

I have 9 hens, 2 cockerels, 4 ducks and 2 drakes. I live on my own - apart from dogs - and I give most of the eggs away. I always say I am going to sell them, now that I am retired, but somehow I still end up giving them away!

We have had cockerels in the past and reared our own chicks under a broody (not had a lot of success with an incubator) - Silkies make the best mothers I find.  We have also had ducks, my husband loves ducks eggs, but ducks are a bit messy!  Got to go now, just watching Come Dine With Me, back to back episodes on a Saturday afternoon, love it!!

I very rarely just sit and watch tv at any time. I have to do something else at the same time. EXCEPT FOR DR WHO OF COURSE. ( 20 minutes to go, better get organised!!!!)

You should watch Come Dine With Me on a Saturday from around 4.00pm until around 6.00pm - it is a blast!

Ah, no.  I saw it once and was appalled at the bad manners displayed, turned it off in short order.  Eeek

I'll try that again!

Great to have you on board, Marilyn. Thanks for joining in.

I love your moniker - reminds me of Mary Poppins somehow (the movie, that is, not Alan Shearer Big_Laugh )

Good to see that you have quickly cottoned on to how to use our vast and growing array of smileys. Watch out for the one named BS, or Brightspark. She is the one who keeps piling them on! Wave
