wave  My family all had springers and I love them.  I was  so lucky with my last spaniel, Bonnie, as she was a lovely calm girl. I had her for thirteen years.

Now I have two beautiful black labradors, very well behaved  ( most of the time) and I often wonder how I lived so long without labs in my life.

Old teachers never die, they just lose their class

We had two Bearded Collies (not at the same time!), and they both lived to 14, and I think of them often, but our lifestyle now - a lot of travelling - prevents us from having any animal. Sadly. Our two cats (sisters) lived to 18 and to 20 - miss them terribly too.  cry

"How do you spell 'Love'?" (Piglet).

"You don't spell it, you feel it" (Pooh).

'A hug,' said Pooh 'is always the right size!'

Hi Danast and brightspark!

From all of the conversations I have had with other springer owners, Bonnie seems to have been the rarest of dogs...a calm spaniel! Billy is what he is and I love him to bits...but I think a lot of it is in the genes!

Before Billy we had the most gorgeous black lab, Skipper. He was so well behaved and calm, completely different! We lost him 5 years ago (on my husbands birthday - hard) and miss him every day still.

I grew up with cats, a mother cat and her daughter and they just seemed to be around forever! But its good to have the memories of them even when they are no longer round

Hi Donna and Brian, lovely place this forum, always something to chat about and swap ideas, hope you'll enjoy yourselves on here. I have a dog too, a little smooth fox terrier called Jessie, probably the most wilful and disobedient animal I have ever had the pleasure to meet.

Hi Janet wave

I am certainly very glad to have found this forum, evryone has been very welcoming!

I've always like the look of fox terriers ever since I saw one in an Agatha Christie's Poirot TV show! Quite a few breeds have 'strong' personalities' don't they!!!

Not half....she's a little sod sometimes. She has the ability to make me feel guilty for not giving her enough attention and ball time she can act quite pathetic when she wants.

Oh yes, the spaniel eyes! Billy is so accomplished at manipulating emotions, he's got my mum wrapped around his little finger...or paw!!!

Bruno has learned to put his head on one side and raise one eyebrow! He also does a good imitation of scooby doo!

Hi Joanna wave. I envy you the sun...we've had rain all day that has just turned to snow!

It was short lived so you don't have to be too envious. We've had snow on the ground since the beginning of December, but it is not especially deep for us yet. We are due some more in about a week's time, probably the weather you are having now passing on to us.cheers

Welcome from me in Bulgaria...

We were out in t-shirts for the last two days but long range threatens heavy snow on Saturday and Sunday and down to double figure minuses for the rest of the week.  Out here you rely on a good stock of wood, pasta, rice and whatever you have stored in jars or have in the freezer and lots of books on the kindle.

You'll normally find me on the 'sun lounger' pages adding unusual comments to posts from my quirky insight of life....

Enjoy....
