Has anyone ever seen these amazing drawings?  They fascinate me.

I'll try that again!

Incredibly clever and at the same time they don't make me smile ..... very little happiness in them.

That makes me wonder what makes an artist choose to paint or draw their chosen theme.

Thought-provoking, certainly.

Just make your absence felt"

wave  I thought they were very clever too Val, but I didn't go right to the bottom of the page.  I found them very depressing.

Of course today the thought provoking painting is The Scream.  I was listening to the radio today and various people were trying to analyse the painting.  Again, who knows what goes through the mind of an artist when producing a work of art.

I think Danuta that it was a premonition that one of his works would sell for 119 million dollars and he wouldn't see a dime or a Norwegian Krona of it....wouldn't you want to 'Scream'   yellyell big_laughbig_laugh

I agree with you too on the Biro sketches....not a happy man..cry

Like you said TA, fascinating.

The Scream sale reminds me of that song by Del Amitri "Nothing Ever Happens"

"While American businessmen snap up Van Goghs

for the price of a hospital wing"

I can think of better things to spend so much money on.

I think it is lke a child's drawing too, glad others feel the same. I have always thought it is a case of the Emporers new clothes with many art works. Give me a normal picture any time! Didn't look at the biro drawings due to most of you saying they are depressing!

Thanks for that link, TA. While most of the subjects look unhappy, the technique is interesting. £300 a pop is not outlandish either.

Also, it's interesting that he uses old envelopes.

Anyway, I like his stuff.

Never knowingly underfed

The Scream is better than the Rothko painting that is three bands of colour and went for

$86.9m today. I agree Danny I like the drawings but find them startling. There is nothing

wrong in a challenging subject material I think.
