I have done a lot of Cross-stitch in the past, but gave up because, one, my Eyesight was so bad, and two, my arthritis in my hands was a problem. But I miss it so much, am having a go at stitching on 11 Count Aida, anyone else do, or have done Cross-stitch. I am particularly fond of Lizzie Kate Charts.smile

Sorted out an easy block Sampler to practice on, it is a Baby Sampler, so will come in handy when Selina has her Baby, due in November.

Hi Tina,

I did some samplers years ago but I gravitated to petit point & designing/making my own designs. I did quite a lot for some years including a carpet with a large tree of life on it. I also did a few chair seats & cushions. I had to give it up because of my eye problems because I loved to do very fine work.

I have seen Petite Point, Hattie, not sure what it entails, is it very small cross-stitches?

waveNo Tina, it's a series of small slanted stitches (in the same direction) packed very tightly so no canvas shows through the threads). It is very hard wearing. I loved doing it.  You can buy already marked up canvases or complete kits but I loved working on my own ideas.

I have sent for some Magnifying Glasses, that you put on your Glasses, hoping this will help, but I really need my Cataracts done. They said maybe next year. I have Kits everywhere, Longstitch, Cross-stitch, people used to give me them as presents. I love the Elizabethen Embroidery, would love to do something along those lines.

Can't find my Pink Work Bag, with the Piece I am working on, which is a Lizzie Kate, "What Bird!" think some clever Dickie might  have put  it on top of my Wardrobe.  Have plenty of other Bags so just might start a small Project this Afternoon.

I haven't done much cross stitch for a couple of years, can't get in the right mood.  I have done work on up to 18 count, but now, with the aid of my glasses I do 14.  I too have a touch of arthritis in all my joints, so hands and wrists too ache after awhile.

I must get some pics on photobucket.  I haven't used it in years as I can put pics straight into my own tiny healthy lifestyle forum (long story which I will tell you all about another day!) and the gardening forum that I joined in 2006.

The biggest things I have done was 2 mermaids, one from a magazine and the other 'Mermaid of the Pearls' from Mirabilia, for my daughter.  One was for her 30th and the other for her 40th in 2013.  I also did a large Golden Retriever for step DIL's 30th and one of those photo charts in 2002 for my old lady boss.  It was a photo of her Golf Club House and I put it into a tray for her to give as a first prize when she was lady captain. So much green and sky, that one was a nightmare!

Now, I mostly do the family cards.

Am sure I have seen 'Mermaid of the Pearls' Those Charts are wonderful, did 'The Wedding' many Years ago.  Have made Samplers for all my Grandchilden, Wedding Samplers galore, Samplers are my Favourite, but my Eyes are not good enough to be sewing Pearls, etc on to Projects.  Love humerous Charts, and this is the second time am making this one, made one for my Sis, and loved it so much, must have one.  It is a Picture of an empty Cage, and a Cat with Feathers hanging out of it's Mouth, saying, " what Bird !"  My favourite designer is Faye Whittaker, and my Living Room has nothing but her Pictures on the Walls.  Wish I could spend more time Stitching, but have built up a thriving wee Business making Cards, and have regular Customers, the secret of that of course is personalizing, People love their Names on Cards, especially, Wedding and Anniversary Ones.  I definitely do remember the Mermaid Chart, but have never seen it made up. Am going to be so busy in the run up to Xmas, sorry TA X  I ask people to give their Orders early, but there are always one or two who expect you to do them at short Notice.  My Daughter, makes beautiful Angel Key Rings, and a shop in Town has just given her a permanent Order.

I love Faye Whittaker too!  I have several charts from her All Our Yesterdays collection, but have only done the small ones so far for cards.
