D suggested a new thread for this, and here seemened a good place for it.

To avoid clogging the rest of the forum up with our ouvre we've started a flickr group, for which you'll need a flickr account. If anyone has any issues setting this up (it's pretty straightforward, so don't be scared) just yelp and no doubt someone will come to your aid.

also, for anyone who's intrigued, the little cottage in the icon for the group is on the Blaise Castle estate and was built as a hansel and gretel style play house for the children of the estate owner. More info here

So now we need a theme for january?

It should also be possible to sign in to flickr with a yahoo account - I have just tried that now I just have to wait for my group membership to be approved...

I like frost!

at least, in principle I like frost. It has just occurred to me that getting pictures of frost may mean getting up early and going outside in the cold...

But my mind is already reeling with ideas about where I might find awesome frosty things to take pictures of....

Soi vote frost! despite the prospect of having to leave my snuggly, cosy, sam-filled, bed at some ungodly frostbitten hour to capture it.

p.s. "sam-filled" should not be interpretted as meaning that a single Sam* fills a whole double (in fact, kingsize, ooo the luxury) bed. Merely that when a bed contains a sam (who takes up less than half of a bed) that becomes its defining characteristic, as far as a raemond is concerned at least.

*and you can just stop there with any ideas about there being plural sams. just stop.

You've not joined the group yet though, have you? unless i've missed something? At the moment it's a semi public group where membership has to be approved, and as I'm currently the only admin monkey (anyone else wishing to admin monkey with me just say!) I think that I have to approve everyone?

how much of what's in the group can you see if you're not a member? there's not really anything in the group yet, so I'm guessing not much.

Join the group! the more the merrier!

wave  Okay frost all gone, only sheet ice left. aargh   I nearly fell all my length this morning - which granted isn't very far.  big_laugh   Nothing to photograph though.  Perhaps this theme guarantees warmer weather till the end of January.  big_laugh

Does the frost have to be photographed during january? Or can I cheat and submit some of the ones I took in december whistle

How are we going to organize the photos in the group - I haven't really explored how you do things with flickr but can you set up galleries or albums (a bit like facebook) to keep all the photos together?

I don't know. I think you can set up albums or sets or something to keep the themed pics together.

And I reckon, yes, the themed pics have to be taken during the month that the theme is set, to encourage going out anf about finding things.

Lack of frost may prove a problem though. It wasn't frosty here this morning. But I'm sure it'll get chillier before february.

We could maybe have a parralel album for pics previously taken, but keep it separate from the monthly themed pics.

I shall have more of a play when  get home, I don't think i can access flickr from work.

Would a closeup of the inside of my freezer excite anybody?  It's pretty warm down here compared with lately, so it might be all I can manage.

Gone crazy. Back soon.

How about a slight modification of the theme and say "Cold"? That way "Frost" still qualifies......?

Trying to join, but can't remember what my Yahoo password is....aargh
