Danny and TA I hope this isn't too cheeky...

Hello all you poulterers and huntsmen....I'm taking a Hat Making Workshop in September and will be making period hats  and period hats need FEATHERS.

I pick up any useful feathers when I'm out and about but it suddenly struck me that some of you might just have some good feathers you don't have any use for...any one with BIG feathers or nicely marked feathers ( even if it is after September) I can always use them for my stage hats, just message me using emaily bit at the top of the page.

I'm dreaming of cockerel feathers.....or pheasants...or big goose quills....my collection of pigeon feathers is nice, but a bit dull.......you might even have a moulting peacock.....

Many thanks!laugh

I don't see why you think you are being cheeky, after all, the forum is about being frugal and if you can't request things that others might throw away...good luck!  If I come across any I'll let you know.

I'll try that again!

wave Just answered this in another thread.  I will save some feathers for you later on then.  I will have a good supply of pheasant feathers, but not till November.   Some of them are quite beautiful.  big_hug  I used to have a peahen, but it disappeared last summer.  I think it flew to Bute looking for a mate.

Oh crikey, Kate, I hope F has not stuffed the lovely Italian Leghorn cockerel feathers in the bin. But i think you may be a day too late. frown

They were gorgeous.

Good luck with your very interesting project.

Danny, have you checked with Fiona to see if the feathers are available?

I'll try that again!

I'm afraid that Tuesday morning is bin collection time and F dressed the cockerels on Mon evening.

So sorry, Kate.

What a shame, those tail feathers would have looked so good on a hat. thumbs_down

What a shame, Kate, though I do have a couple of Barn Owl feathers down in France, so perhaps I can get them to you if they're any good?

Oh, and I can also have a word with our neighbour down there who goes out on the 'chasse' - perhaps if he bags a pheasant or something, he may be able to supply some more. I'll ask.
