Please has anyone got a recipe for a oat based ''baked'' breakfast cereal?

I purchase from a health shop a cereal called Hazel nut malty crunch (  including apple juice and malt). Whilst it is yummy good,I am sure I could make it myself cheaper?

Does not have to contain hazelnuts etc..any ideas gratefully received.

Maybe there are other people here also who also would be interested to know ( we all want to save pennies)

Thanks in advance for any help.

Warm wishes Pam

Fiona recommended this one to me a while ago http://www.gardening-tools-direct.co.uk/blog/2008_.....chive.html and I have tried it out and tastes good, and very easy to make.

Joanna, I've had a look at this - very interesting - and as I have porridge (with fruit) every morning, I can imagine that when the weather is warmer, this would be a really good alternative.

Sounds lovely - and I, too, am coming to grips with a Slo-Cooker, this was given to me a couple of weeks ago. This sounds like something I would like to try.

Thanks, Joanna.  Star

Thanks all for help with recipes,

Not really the method i wanted though :O(

I wanted ''Oven baked''...and with far less sugar, as with all that honey ( too fattening by half lol)

Ok better go Google frusli  cerael and see what I can find?

thanks anyhow.

Try looking for granola recipes. I had a recipe that I used, um years ago, but eventually stopped as it had a lot of honey in it and was very sweet. As far as I can remember it meant involved whatever grains and nuts you wanted to use, and mixing with oil and honey and baking. I am sure you could reduce the amount of honey.

I hope this isn't too late, I am just home from 10 days away without internet.
