I haven't had a soft boiled egg for ages but I used to start them off in cold water too, then use a normal eggtimer to give them about 3 minutes. Never tried soft boiling a quail egg though - not sure how long they'd need.

Of course it has to be eaten with a sprinkle of salt in the yolk then dipped with toast soldiers...

To boil quail's eggs, put them in a pan of cold water and bring to the boil. Remove the eggs immediately for soft-boiled mollet eggs, or boil for 2 minutes for hard-boiled. Cool under running water, then tap the eggs all over to break the shell. Peel them under cold running water.

Luscious little things.

I'll try that again!

Bit small though, I would need at least 6! How could you fit a marmite soldier as well, they would have to be match stick sized. No good for a healthy appetite!

I wouldn't have Marmite on a soldier for dippy egg, Marmite is only for buttered toast, nothing else.

I'll try that again!

Guess I am a bit of a philistine then! I cannot have a boiled egg without marmite!

Oh, I like it but not with eggs it would overpower the flavour of the yolk.

I'll try that again!

It just tastes glue-y as well as incredibly salty to me. Just as well we all have differing tastes. I hate the smell of it too......laugh

Yes it would be boring if we all liked the same thing.  I like the aroma of it but I have been eating it since I was a tot.

I'll try that again!
