Hi Aromatic

Do you have a recipe for tomato ketchup that you can share?

This morning I noticed that 'er indoors had taken the bacon and sausages out of the freezer to thaw overnight. My best guess is that she got her days of the week mixed up!

While this promises an unexpected breakfast treat for a Friday morning, it does place Sunday's brunch under a major risk.

Negotiations must take place. Outcome to be published here 🙂

I remained cool, Toffeeapple Cool

Honours even. Fiona had cured some bacon and cooked us a lunch yesterday with some of it.

I cooked brunch today and bought more sausages just now (trying out Tesco's Butcher cheapie brand) and I will do brunch tomorrow.

Her curing te bacon was the negotiating chip that balanced everything out Wink

Hi Toffeeapple

As I'm off the road so to speak I often get my days muddled up and was delighted that

a) It was Friday - an unexpected extra day

b) We could devour a cooked breakfast without feeling guilty Smile

P.S. I'm not wildly confident about the Tesco cheapo sausages that D bought Wink

Hi Fiona,

I tried to respond to this yesterday evening but Phyllis (my laptop) wasn't being friendly so I had to turn her off.

Now that I have retired I have difficulty in knowing what day of the week it is, so I understand how you feel. I've been free for only three weeks but I have no idea how I previously managed to fit the office into my day!

Have you eaten those sausages yet, if so, how were they?  I just ate a fried egg on seedy bread with a few baked beans, yummy!

I'll try that again!

Hi Toffeeapple

I didn't like them at all but D thought they were OK 🙂

We polished off the last of the home cured bacon so have to get some into soak in time for next weekend.

I'm alwlays suspicious of sausages, I never know what is lurking inside the skin. (It could be something as vile as GRISTLE!)  Have you ever made your own?

You'd better start the bacon soon.

I'll try that again!

Attagirl, Toffeeapple, brandish the whip now and again lest productivity fall away. Laugh

Those sausages were just average. Adequate. You get what you pay for. But worth trying because they were £1.87 for 450g (pack of 8 ) compared with approx £2.60 for the better ones.Perfect for feeding a young family and nothing wrong with them.

But seeing as our weekend brunches are treat meals, I will stick mostly to the better ones.

Danny- after drooling over your brunch last week I did a proper one today- venison sausages baked with portabello mushrooms and our own tomatoes, baked red onions and pumpkin, home cured bacon. Pretty damn wonderful. Now stuffed and incapable of anything other than a Sunday afternoon snooze. Sheer hell.

Kateuk makes things at http://www.etsy.com/shop/finkstuff and sometimes she does this too http://www54paintings.blogspot.com/ and also this http://finkstuff.weebly.com/

Kate, you have raised the bar a notch. Now we have to play keep-up! Confused

That sounds absolutely wonderful. A proper lunch, really. I may give it a go next week.

What did you have with it, like bread and butter etc, or nothing extra?
