Obviously, i have not life to the full(yet).

Must find a recipe for homemade HBs and do the pan fried thing. They may well be much nicer than their frozen cousins.

TA - it may come to that!

I did a search on "how to make hash browns". Many recipes just use raw grated potatoes. Some even said "thaw a bag of frozen HBs". There is no Cordon Bleu standard out there, folks. I have found a niche in the realm of haute cuisine!!

First off, I am accustomed to the frozen McCain variety, so onion and flavour is a must.

This one has a technique to squeeze the water out: Use a ricer (recipe has no onions in)

This one has onions and I will refer to it also

But this is the recipe I will start with. It is aimed at kids (no sniggering)

A tiny first step on this great adventure. Cool

Oh, TA, don't be so pernickety. Wink PintPint

In this house, weekend brunch is the haute of haute cuisine ( but don't tell her nibs that I said that Smile )

S.O.L - par boiling sounds like a good start Just like doing roasties. I love the way you say "treat like a rosti.". You are assuming too much of this country boy! We shall try this on Sunday morning and report back. Cool

(those shades make me feel like one of the Elwood boys)
