I like to see some small recognition for frequent contributors on forums. It is often amusing but relevant.

At the moment, there are only two ranks that show underneath your avatar on posts:

0 to 5 posts: New Member

6 to gazillion posts: Member

Given that many people will (hopefully) reach counts of posts in the thousands over the years, can you suggest suitable forum ranks. I found it difficult to come up with very much. Also, the forum system allows for badges (images) to be assigned to forum ranks. It all adds a little colour and fun. So, please do suggest ideas for badges, either an image or a link to an image, or just suggest a theme and we can go and find suitable images.

Ranks:

6 to 49

50 to 99

100 to 249

250 to 499

500 to 999

That will do for starters.

My own thinking was mainly around cooking, like:

Bottlewasher, Hunter Gatherer, Chief Cook, Domestic Deity, Food Pornographer, and so on

Thanks for thinking about this, guys.

I like mutley's idea about tree sizes. This is a gardening as well as a food forum, so that idea has merit.

Toffeeapple: chatterbox? There is only one contender for that title! Guess who? Big_Laugh

Joanna: I like your idea but it needs developing - like what dish is "minor" and which is more "senior"

Joanna, ....... and when you get to 1000, is that Champagne CelebrationChampagne cake?

(I think it is gateau, or gateaux, plural)

Who gets the "Boss" badge?

OK, got your drift, Joanna.

Regarding the badges: I am thinking about a simple "gold star" series of images, from a 1 star commis chef to a 5 star General Michelin. Or something along those lines. Quite simple but appealing, I think.

Anyhow, nothing is forever (except true love Smooch) and we can start with something and change it  / improve it as we go along. This is still a baby forum and we have many happy years ahead, hopefully.

I am afraid I have become addicted - is there any hope for me?
