Wave   I do have to agree with TA.  I stopped smoking almost 9 years ago and it is quite off putting to see something about smoking right beside me ever time I am on  ( and you know how often that is!!!!)  I agree with the advertising, please don't get me wrong, but if it could be down the page a bit, I would be happy too.

By the way I wouldn't ever nag anybody about smoking.  I put on 4 stone when I stopped  and cannot shift it, no matter what I try.  Monster  So am I healthier?   - I think not!!

Can I be really honest here - I totally agree about adverts being here to bring in funds.

Great idea.

However, I have never smoked in my life, and I find the sight of a cigarette quite abhorrent - that may also be due to the fact that family members have died through smoking, but is it possible to have the advert without the picture? Or does that make me selfish?

(Maybe that would help you, too, TA)

Apologies in advance ....

Fair comments, all.

I will work out an alternative location or change it around. Give me a little time and it will be shifted by this evening.

Thanks for letting me know.

You are going OTT now! Big_Laugh

I hope the new version is more palatable. Sorry, TA, I cannot shift it down the page but i will install the software that switches off the LH panel ads when you are logged in. Can't do it now but I will give it priority.

BTW, as new ads eventually go up, please do shout if you find them objectionable. I think you fairly represent a majority of our readership so your opinion has weight.

Um, I don't see most of the ads since DS installed whatever ad blocking he installed for me. But I am very glad I haven't seem one of smoking, since that would really put me off reading this!

Don't worry, Barbara. It was an image of a device that helps smokers to quit. Not a real cigarette or an inducement to take up smoking.

OK - any forum reader who has logged in or who is a regular reader will not see ads in the left hand panel. I am unable to do that on the blog because of the extra load it would cause (blog pages are cached as static pages so that every visit does not add extra load to the server - the forum is not suitable for caching because it is too dynamic, it changes very frequently).

I will look at blanking the right hand panel on the forum also and other options for hiding ads on the blog for regulars.
