Does this board software allow HTML links?

And in particular, does it allow people to post images?

I can foresee that I, or other members, might want to post images of mushrooms or berries or whatever that they need help with identifying, or perhaps pictures of dishes they have cooked. Or to link to something on another forum or website.

At risk of being presumptuous, and teaching grannie to suck eggs, at another board I frequent the use of photobucket to post images is encouraged, because (so I'm led to understand) posting images via photobucket links is very easy on bandwidth.

David, one never knows so much that extra snippets are not welcome. No worries. Please continue to add observations and suggestions in this topic - you and anybody else who has a suggestion. Thank you very much.
I deliberately stripped the rich feature set of this forum system down to bare bones to begin with. Forums can be server intensive and I wanted to avoid needless performance issues.
Also, we have taken the approach that rules and regulations will only be published as and when required. I think this site’s readership are a pretty sensible bunch, more interested in producing great eats than ranting at the world and other users.
I like the photobucket idea and we will definitely pursue that in the next day or two. I have a task list to implement, like the way that the footer at the bottom is askew. The post editor is the most basic one and you can type in raw links at present. But we will try out the TinyMCE option for a better experience. That has “proper” editing features. The down side is that it is almost impossible to edit a post once you have submitted it because of the embedded HTML tage that it applies. Still, let’s experiment and get feedback.

Guess it does work then, that's a photobucket using the bottom [IMG] tag to link to it. Sweeeet. 😀

I can see an Edit button above my post.

Is that not there on your post? It should be seeing as you are logged in.

Test

ETA Yes, it's there.

I wondered whether it might be that editing was an admin privilege, but no.

I just have the online/offline button, 'Quote', 'Report', Permalink button and print button. Is Edit on the far right by any chance?

The edit button is on the right of the typing area. I have the same cut off as you in IE. I can see half the button.

No D says I'm wrong. When you have saved the post you will then see the edit btton.

Test - using my test user account that has no Admin rights.

Right above this text area I can see (from left to right)
the red icon that indicates that I am online
a button that says "Quote"
a button that says "Report"
a button that says "Edit" <===
a button with a link symbol
a button with a printer symbol

Ruth - do you not see all of these also?

No, the edit one isn't in there, got all the rest in that order. Are you using Firefox etc though rather than IE?
Fiona, on the right I have the post number and the very tiny edge of something else which when I hover over says it's the 'go to top' button. That's all.

It's 7, or 7.0.5730.13 to be pedantically exact about it. 🙂

Well, I can confirm that you are not hallucinating after all !!
I have logged in on my old laptop using IE 7.0.5730.11 and there is no Edit button.

It all looks so different at a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 compared with my newer PC.

OK, Ruth, I will report this fault to the authors and see if we can get a fix. Thanks for your help and patience.
