An entire folder of scripts (all our plugins including this forum software) was somehow deleted from our server this afternoon. We have absolutely no idea how it could have happened.

Thank goodness for backups!

Luckily the database was not affected so we did not lose any posts, articles or comments.

Any IT bods seen this happen before?

Thank goodness it is all sorted out now, I had a moment of panic when I saw that the forum was just a blank page with adverts!  And I've had withdrawal symptoms.  I hope it wasn't too much work to restore?

I'll try that again!

It took about 90 minutes and I may have forgotten one or two of the minor plugins but it's looking relatively unscathed. Hounded, I were, by the sparkly bright one who was really suffering.

It's funny in hindsight, TA, but I got a real shock like you did. I had just put the last comment on the 'missing Danuta' thread, clicked on "Post new reply" and seconds later the forum disappeared, and most everything else as well. There were a few panicky minutes until I figured out the cause.

Next I want to see how to set up a private forum that can only be visited by logged in members with a few posts under their belt. Just for the heck of it. There may be a few worthwhile freebies, previews and other stuff for um as contribute

Also, we will be installing a left hand sidebar to carry more advertising. It's a necessary evil to try and build up a replacement income for Fiona. She will have been out of action for a full year on Bastille Day. But in addition, a plugin that makes ads disappear for logged in users and people who comment on the blog. We do not want to irritate you guys and gals.

There seems to be a bit of a blip with the logout at the moment. When I logout it doesn't appear to do it and then when I go to logout again it takes me to another page which asks me if I really want to logout

Roll_Eyes. The advertising doesn't reallly irritate me to be honest, I tend to ignore it anyway and as long as it doesn't flash too visibly then I don't mind. I hadn't realised until now that two of your adverts do flash so they are not very obtrusive. Big_Hug

D'you know, I've never intentionally logged out?  I just close the lid on Phyllis and restart in the morning.

I'll try that again!

Now don't mock the afflicted, I'll have stairs one day and a galleried landing with a chandelier so that I have somewhere to hang my washing in the winter...isn't that what they're forWhistleWhistle

As for the police, I'm six kilometers from the 'highway' and the 'Trafic Police' (and I keep telling them that there are two 'ff's in Traffic) won't even notice.  All they look for are insurance and the permit to be on the main roads.  If you go from village to village over the hills and far away...you don't pay road tax...hence the jeep, and the Clio does the business...

So back to my raised beds....I think they could be a great idea...for all sorts of reasons (especially now you've sown the seed) WellDoneWellDone and the price is right...so come on down.....Big_Laugh Big_Laugh
