A new service is being trialled on CSH - CloudFlare CDN

A Content Distribution Network is a service that copies much of a website onto multiple servers that are located in several countries across the globe. The benefit is that the service automatically detects where a visitor is located and serves the web pages from the server that is closest to the visitor.

The service also caches static things like images on their servers.

In theory, that makes CSH appear faster to many visitors. The initial stats provided by CloudFlare say that the blog page load speed may have increased by up to 60% from 3.63 seconds on average to 1.37 secs.

I don't know whether or not the forum will speed up because it is too dynamic to be worthy of caching, unlike the static blog pages that only change when somebody adds a comment. But I guess the forum images, gravatars and icons will be cached.

Anyway, please report any wobbles that you may notice. CSH has only just now been activated so it may take 24 hours before any impact may be felt at your end.

Seems like this new service has kicked in and has affected some elements of the forum.
Like I had to refresh this page to get the Reply button to work, and the little toolbar (with the text formatting option etc.) has disappeared.

Got your email, Danuta. I hope we can resolve this quickly.

Oh, so that's what it's all about. I have had to shift over from Google Chrome to Mozilla Firefox to post......Chrome is just chaos as far as CSH is concerned. It is odd that.....? Mind you thee smileys are not working here....!!!

Cooee Danuta! Are you OK now that you can get in? I'm over on Chrome at the moment, it does let me use a decent size font but that's about all.

I'll try that again!

So how come I can use smileys then?  Dunno about colours, am trying this in TA's blue but it still looks black to me (unless it comes out blue when it's printed).  And no I'm not colour blind big_laugh
