I have the same problem as Barbara - one of the pages (only) I can only read the left hand side of it, but it disappears off to the right.

Thumbs_Down

Yay - I have 1+1 .......

"How do you spell 'Love'?" (Piglet).

"You don't spell it, you feel it" (Pooh).

'A hug,' said Pooh 'is always the right size!'

The response from forum support was:

"Probably there is a post in the topic that has a very long line of text with no spaces in it so the HTML can not wrap it. You will need to edit the post in question and break the line."

I guess that pasting links straight into a post may cause that issue. Let's keep an eye out for it.

The correct method of embedding links is described here.

Of course, there may be other reasons. Please let me know if any topics in particular seem to cause this problem and we can investigate further.

Brightspark, I am so glad it is not just me!

Danny, I followed the link in your post, and it is also too wide. I am sure I could read it all before! So I can't follow how to insert links correctly because I can't read it all. Eeek

Barbara, I wonder if images cause problems on your browser. I think the pages that you mentioned all had photos. I will think about that possibility.

I'm sure there were other pages with photos that I had no problems with Before Update, but I don't know which pages so I can't check.  I will see if I have problems with other pages, and keep letting you know if I do.

Hi Barbara and Danny,

the page I have a problem with is "Achievements for the Day"

if that is any help!

Ok

"How do you spell 'Love'?" (Piglet).

"You don't spell it, you feel it" (Pooh).

'A hug,' said Pooh 'is always the right size!'

Thanks, BS. Because many topics are now spread over several pages of 15 posts per page, it would be great if you could take the time to visit the original Page 1 of that topic and let me know if that causes problems.

If not, then click through to Page 2 etc. until you find the first offending page, Then we can probably easily narrow it down to which post on that page is causing the problem.

Although, from memory, I think that topic has 50+ pages! Sorry BS, but it really would be a great favour. Take your time. Do it over several days if needs be. Or identify another less populous topic that presents the same problem.

Thanks,

D,

Thanks, Danny.  Medicine

As it happened only recently, I started at page 55, rather than spend a few hours ...........

anyway, it is page 57 and page 58 that are too wide for me to read.

Odd, it isn't the same pages I have trouble with. Clearly some sort of bug. Devil I can read Achievements for the Day, including pages 57 & 58, it is still the first page of Random Photos that I can't read. Or the How to insert links... page.

I think we have narrowed down the possible causes for the width problem to two likely candidates:

1 - pasting very long raw links into posts. BS and Barbara, can you please check page 57 of Achievements for the Day topic again. Barbara had pasted in two raw links in the last post on that page. I made them into links for the terms Chelsea Physic Garden and hand cultivator. TA - you had done the same on your biker links of yesterday so I converted them too

2 - embedded multiple images on one post, even using the correct procedure. The vertical spacing between images does not appear to work properly and this is probably causing width problems in some browsers. I use XP with a range of browsers to test things: IE8, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera - and all work fine on my system. I will have to take this issue up with the forum software authors.

 **** Hi Danny, have checked pp 57 & 58.

p.57 is now normal width

p.58 is still too wide

Is that any help?
