Toffeeapple and I agree that this forum requires an extended set of smileys to enable all of us to fully convey the wild range of emotions that the topics engender. You don't believe me? Then you have never spent four hours  preparing a very special meal only to serve to table something that tastes as though it came from a tin in the discounted range of a budget supermarket (we haven't told you about my £16 starter for four!)

At the other extreme, how can you adequately describe the taste of shin of beef and venison casserole, your first sampling of raspberry vodka or the effect of a dram of damson gin on a snowy winter lunchtime?

Last night I started to search the Internet. I was stunned at the vast range of emoticons and smileys that are available free of charge. Everything from the obscene (yes!) to the vividly animated ones. Therein lies the problem. I thought I could locate a fairly simple set. I did that years ago for another forum. But, no, now each site offers hundreds, categorised by type of emotion. In the end I gave up.

Can anybody suggest a source? All suggestions considered. Apart from the one animated "frustration" emoticon of head-baging-on-wall, I dislike most animated ones. Perhaps it is possible to pick and choose, taking one or two from all the sets that are available? I would also consider paid-for sets if they fit the bill.

Thanks, all.

I've no suggestions to make but I do agree with you that the animated ones are irritating in the extreme with the exception of the 'frustration' one and the 'bounce or jumps for joy' one.   I'll keep my fingers crossed that someone can help.

I'll try that again!

I made a little progress today and found a few "packs" of likely suspects.

Next I will sift out the dross and upload the best ones to our server. That's the easy bit. Fortunately, the forum software authors are really helpful and I hope they will show me how to plug the new smileys into our forum. They should be in place by the weekend.

LOL, Kate - sounds like you are drowning in porridge Laugh

Maybe you are trying to drag and drop the smileys? If so, don't do that. Just click on a smiley and it should pop up at the point in your text where you were last typing.

Full credit to BS, TA. And she has more on the way!

OK all - the demand for a drool emoticon is growing. Can anybody link to a suitable candidate smiley?
