I resized the image within photobucket before posting. Kept the original there at full size.

Here goes

Bingo! I reckon going up one of their standard sizes from that would be fine.

I've not seen the text down the side like the one above, though.

Try a bigger one, which really was taken from my window.

And try some text below, too

Ah, now I see what the mouse icon on the photo does.

Learning something new every day. Not seen that before.

I see that text posted before the image link doesn't get posted alongside the image, but text written below it does.

Since it can't do any harm here, I'll try another full size image.

And also add on a great wadge of text to see what happens to that when posting a full size image, because I'm curious to see what happens, both before and after expanding the image.

Looks fine - any problems in posting large images now, Danny?

I think we have sorted the image issue, David. Thanks for the extensive tests.

There is a setting that controls the max size of the image that is displayed in posts. I would guess that if I increase that, then the text that you enetred below the image link may appear below in the eventual post also. I will try that now.

Update: No, the text still wraps to the right. Not sure if the new max width of 400 is an improvement or not. I guess I could make it practically full width to force text underneath but I suspect that a smaller thumbnail with the supersize option may be better.

Any opinions?

I do envy your your salt tang view. Just watch out for global warming! :-)

I think it's fine now, but maybe a smaller thumbnail would be better still. My picture of the squill expands out big enough.

I'm about 20m above high water, so if sea levels reach me we will all be in trouble.

It's now at 100 pixels wide. I think we will run with that because it makes the mouse icon appear more prominently and therefore more intuitive for people to click on. I kind of like the text wrapping to the right but I will see if there is a setting to force it underneath.
