I'm just trying out the forum on my phone. I was impressed that the main blog automatically used a phone friendly layout. Typing is a bit slow on the tiny phone keypad though.

Good grief!  I haven't joined my phone to any network and I don't think I will either.

I'll try that again!

I'm currently in a wet tent at a country show and thought I'd log in to pass some time

Smileys don't seem to work from the phone, or at least I don't see any. Ah well. That's a minor problem compared to the speed of browsing the site on a slow mobile connection.

It's one of the HTC Desire phones with fairly poor battery life so I intend to get a car charger for it so we don't end up stranded somewhere with no phones.

We go to a lot of country shows as members of the Southern and Midland hamster clubs, exhibiting animals and you can guarantee that a few of the shows will be ruined by the rain. Today wasn't too bad - a few years ago we had a severe hailstorm at one show, and at another the show had been open for several hours before we got a single member of the public in the tent! At least we got very popular whenever it rained - the tent would immediately fill up with people who suddenly became interested in hamsters.

Oooh wet and windy shows, had my fair share of those. Nearly got blown off Anglesey one year and we were one of the few stalls that opened up later on in the day and folks had to buy something to take home so it kind of worked.whistle

I'm having another go at using the forum on our android tablet. The built in browser doesnt bring up the keyboard in the posting text box.

firefox is painfully slow. only opera seems to work now but the smileys dont work at all but i can probably live with that

I couldn't use the emoticons either with my iPad but Danny worked out a text code. It is pinned and I think can be found in the technical bits. As I was getting withdrawal symptoms I was very happy about this.
