Crikey, some yarns here cost £5.00 for a ball.  Is your stuff spun when you get it or do you have to find someone to do it for you?

Ready spun..just have to wind it yourself from the skeins (I think that's how you spell it).  It comes out at double knitting but I'm running two threads together to make chunky. Nice colours..thought about adding it to my blog and taking orders or setting up a cottage industry with the ladies around here that just enjoy doing it....woollen socks costs me £2.00 from a street vendor and they are toasty....

I think you could have a roaring trade if you did that, what does the postage cost in BG?  In fact, I bet there are a few people here who would be more than happy to start you off, especially with socks at £2.00 a pair.  magic

I'll try that again!

That's good to hear.

You can knit with Alpaca yarn you know...

I know, but out here sheep stuff is much cheaper....I am paying approx £5.00 for a kilo of sheep's wool complete with bits of straw which are removed after the first wash....it makes lovely jumpers.  I've got two on the go at the moment but I'm thinking alpacas and then thinking...naaaahhhh.yawn

Hi Elsa, I know Alpaca isn't cheaper and that's the point - hoping to be able to sell the finished garments once our lovely ladies of the village (and men if any are interested) have finished spinning and knitting them for a reasonably good return to benefit this place I live in. Well that's the plan and I know there have been a few in the offing so far and none come about yet - but I do mean yet!smug

Hi

Your 'Cottage Industry' sounds good, you would have a customer here, the price her for home spun pure wool is astronomical, Alpaca is beautiful, and so are the animals.

Yes, think some photos, prices, types of yarn, hand spun would go down a treat here.

Good Luck on your new venture,

Odelle. magicwave
