Hi Jean - did you finish your pom pom garland?  How did it turn out - could we have a pic?  I'm interested to see the final effect.  smile  Also how you strung them - wool / ribbon / &c?  ponder

Sadly the one thing I can't do is put up a photo - with our "wonderful" internet connection (53.6 kbps) (yes I DID mean Kbps) I have not been able to get pictures onto my blog for ages, and only with difficulty got them onto Flickr to put them onto Ravelry and now even that refuses to happen.

What I did was make individual pompoms, rather than a garland, and I tied them with some very smooth cotton 4ply that came from a charity shop - just the one ball to use for holding stitches, or as a lifeline in lace knitting, because it is totally free of loose fibre. The theory is that daughter can just knot the cotton into a loop, and hang them on the tree individually like she would do with the glass baubles. I must have made about 18 -20 all told, using leftover self-patterning sock wool, and some of the brightest colours from a big bag of Rowan tapestry wool that has been lurking in my stash for fifteen or more years. I made then good and fat - with the Rowan, I used one skein for each pompom.

I have taken a photo, and I will keep trying - if I can get anything onto Flickr I can show off, but until then you'sl hafter mak do wi words! brightsparklystuff

Well it took about a quarter of an hour to ram it through the wire onto Flickr, but I managed to maintain my patience, and it was done. Now here is a link to the second batch of pompoms, being charmingly modelled by Leonardo, Lionus Superbus, who belongs to our younger daughter (long story).

If anyone knows how th get the picture itself moved, rather than just a link, I can be taught!smile

Jean, I've edited to show the picture but could not find a  link to the second batch of pom-poms.

And now I can't colour all of the text in blue - what's going on here?

I'll try that again!

Thanks for converting the link to a picture, Toffeeapple. Sounds like you were expecting to find another picture: that is the only one. That actually is the second batch in the photo - the first lot were handed over, unphotographed, a while ago. So you can imagine them any way you like!wave

Yarn is very expensive now, unless you got to this place.

I'll try that again!

Much better Toni! Of course, with my dinky monitor, most of the darker shades just look black.....

Bet the shipping would be a bit much! eeek
