White ducklings now leaving their house and run and going down to the pond on their own. They spend all day in and around the pond! Great fun catching them though to put them to bed.
Smaller ducklings still in brooder but lamp now higher up, all growing well.

Moved the little ducklings into a much bigger box and have turned off the lamp. They now have straw and a rock and log to climb on. It is amazing how much more space is needed for four ducklings.
The white ones are in a good routine of moving down to the pond during the day and this evening I just waved the net at them and they scrambled out of the pond, walked up the bank and into their pen. No chasing or grabbing needed. It makes life easier!

wave Oh how I envy you Aly.  I just loved having ducks and miss them so much.  But I only have room for a few hens here.  Not complaining though.  smile

We used to find that if you made yourself look like a hawk - arms out in a flying wings position, the ducks would move wherever you wanted them to, as you walked towards them- it always worked.

We used to drive them off the river, up a bank and in to their overnight arc for protection.

Are we having fun yet? I am!

Ducks are daft aren't they? my big ones are well trained, I clap my hands and they appear from wherever they are in the garden and march into their house. The Hawk idea sounds good, might need it for when the latest hatch venture out.

Have moved the latest ducklings into the garden. They had a while on the pond, the white ones were interested but just watched. I have now put them in the outdoor run and house complex that the white ones live in. There is plenty of room for them all and I hope they will settle down together. It will all need watching for a while especially as a pair of Buzzards are circling!

The Buzzards are still around here. I keep taking Bruno out in the garden so they can see him.

Thank goodness the ducklings have grown up safely. I have just found special Bob, my drake who was blind in one eye. Very sad to have lost him as he was cuddly. Having lost Boris and two of my girls this year I am not happy. cry
