I do love 'a charm of Goldfinches', so pretty.

I'll try that again!

And the lovely thing is they make a little tinkly noise, chatting among themselves.

Seth noticed this evening that the starling flock went over, and just one bird peeled off and went straight to the gap and into the airbrick  of my bedroom. The nestlings drive me mad with their noise, and we tend to think of starlings as raucous, but the other evening, I happened to be near when this one was singing a little bedtime song, and it was as sweet as a songthrush, and so quiet.

I agree with Val.  I would love to be able to hear birds again, especially one singing itself to sleep.

I'll try that again!

It was really lovely - I felt privileged. The sad thng is that Seth has lost some of his hearing so that he doesn't hear the high notes like birdsong any more.

That has happened to me as well, it is such a frustrating thing.  I can hear Robins and Blackbirds but not the Tits or Finches now.

I'll try that again!
