Thanks, Nadine. Fiona did mention blogging again. A lot depends on me landing a contract, which would take some of the pressure off her and free up her time a little. Her eBay toy business is extremely time consuming but vital at the moment. I too would love to see her resume writing.

The damn "u" key on my keyboard is now playing hard to get, along with the "h" steam

I did get a job offer on Thu evening. BUT the client has put the project start date back once again. On Mon it was starting on Oct 28. By Thu it was moved back by four weeks to Nov 23. Who knows - it could end up starting in Jan. The next step is to get a contract out of them. Otherwise it is all just talk. That should happen next week, they say. As I have nothing else in the offing and this project could run for up to two years, I just have to bite the bullet and accept the delay. There was a suitable option with Morrisons in Bradford but I was not called for interview (yet), so that may well be dead.

It could be worse I guess, so we have to look on the bright side and be grateful that at least the end is in sight.

Now for fun and games : the forum software upgrade! surprised

Thanks for keeping us up to date with your news Danny. Glad you got the job (if you can wait that long, that is)......  Grhhh!! I know how frustrating/scary that can be as it used to happen to me a lot in my previous theatrical design work.

Good luck with the forum changes.  ponderwhistle  ok

Seems like life is hard for a few of us now. Good to have friends. Hope it works out and Fiona restarts her blog.

Good luck with it all, Danny!
It is all change since I was last on the forum, but I was tempted back in order mention a possible visit to Leeds since it is now forum central! My daughter is between Leeds and Bradford as the train runs, and son is moving up to Leeds soon, maybe this month, so I will get to visit them both with one train fare. Son is moving up to be near his girlfriend, and for cheaper rents and the possibility of buying a house. No need to find a new job, his company has a Leeds office, and he has worked from that office a couple of times over the last few years.

Oh, wow, Barbara. Let us know if you are making the trip to Leeds. I caught up with your bad news in another thread in the past hour or so. Hugs to you both big_hug

Need to get out and about more - must arrange to see Lyn and Golden acre Park etc.

I will let you know when I get to Leeds, Danny. I was intending to be there at the end of November, but that is pretty unlikely I fear. Any sooner and my son won't have moved there and I couldn't see two offspring with one trip. I like the city, daughter was at uni there and she has lived back up north for the last few years so I have visited Leeds itself a few times, and visited a fair number of towns in the area. Have you done any walking on the canal path yet? You could get to Liverpool if you kept on walking....wave

Yes indeed, Barbara, the Leeds to Liverpool canal is right on my doorstep alongside the rive Aire. Walked part of it today and took some photos for a post, either here or on FB. Liverpool 125 miles said the milestone on the towpath. It's a great resource - such a peaceful strip in the middle of a city. Saw a narrowboat marina too on what was the coal landing wharf for the old Kirkstall power station that closed in the late 70s. I want to take one of those down to Liverpool. Maybe an idea for a northern CSH meet-up next year!

Do please keep us updated with your plans to visit and see offspring. big_hug

There is hope at last on the job front. The much delayed project in Hatfield looks as though it will finally kick off sometime in March. Then there is interest from BP for a nice role based in London but with the option to work from home a few days per week. And Thomson travel in Luton have an opening that appears to match my CV. What’s the betting that it will be a buses scenario? Lol

Then again, I have counted chickens in the past so I am still applying for everything I see online.

Voluntary work in the charity shop is very enjoyable. This week I am doing extra shifts for holiday cover.

I have enjoyed my year off and not beating myself up about the work scenario. Did what I wanted to do as regards touring this part of the world and some trips abroad. I have quit smoking again and my objective is to get properly fit for the summer.

Well done Danny.......great to hopefully be in a position of being able to choose which job you want.  And congrats on stopping smoking.......do you know, it's about 20 years since I packed up smoking but the desire has never left me - whenever I catch a whiff of someone's cigarette I get a longing to have one again.  Not that I ever would, that would be just stupid.......wouldn't it?!
