I was telling my Mother that I had friends coming to stay from the USA in a week or so, she asked where from in the USA and how did I meet them? Well, I said, I've not actually met them yet...and they are from a part of the USA I've never visited...but they are over staying over here in the UK with lots of other mutual friends all over the UK- most of whom neither I nor they have met yet...but we shall all be looking at trains...and two friends I've not met yet will be delivering the two American friends I've not met yet to me and then we are going up to Milton Keynes to meet another lot of friends ( most of whom haven't met each other yet) that none of us have met... yet.....

You have to admit, it must all sound hilariously haphazard to the uninitiated!

Ditto Kate

And Michelle & Dan, I'm sure we'll all love you, and if not, you're only here for a couple of days...smile

wave Oh Kate that is hilarious, but oh so true. I think my friends here were very relieved when I had a great time in July.  I am sure they all thought I was mad.

I remember when I was approaching Newmarket to be met by Danny, thinking what the hell am I doing here meeting people I have never met before.  And it was so important to me because although we had never met, I felt that the folks I was meeting were friends.  I needn't have worried.  It was brilliant and such fun.  I am quite convinced we will all get on.  I only wish I was meeting all the friends I missed at the July meet, but Milton Keynes is just impossible for me right now. cry

So true, Danuta.

This forum is simply a meeting point for kindred spirits who love to laugh and who do not take themselves very seriously.

Else, how could they all have sat through the mystery meal in total darkness with smoke from the brazier that brought tears to the eye, and brushed it off as some kind of amusing Danny & Fiona thing. big_laugh

We apologise for not serving you porridge the morning after. chef

Michelle and Dan, booked an Indian restaurant in the village near us for sat night, a couple of friends may be joining us (judith who came to the CSH get together, her of the 'feckless youth' comment).

I've been discussing Sunday ideas with all who will listen and the consensus seems to be that York is such a historic city, that although we do have spectacular scenery in the area, if you only have one day, then it's go to be the Minster and the history. Weather forecast doesn't look great, but I'm sure we'll enjoy.

York is so wonderful, so many wonderful things to see! (If you go to a service you can get in to the Minster free--choral evensong gives you a concert and the Minster both.) I hope the weather isn't too bad for wandering because there is so much to see!

I was going to ask if Michelle wanted to see a Lakeland shop since it is referred to so often on the forum, it isn't essential but if you go past one it might be worth it.

Um, no, Michelle is not a train anorak! She and I are both train widows from time to time big_laugh There are things she'd enjoy in the railway museum, but Barnitts and Lakeland might be more her thing.

Whatever you decide to do, have a wonderful time together!

The star attraction for Dan & Michelle's time with us will be a visit to the CFC wink

They can have their photos taken while furtling about in the shelves of goodies.

They will surely not have experienced anything like it before. runaway

wave  Well at this moment Michelle and Dan are travelling by train ( of course ) and speeding towards Janet in York.  My house seems empty without them.  I have had a wonderful time as I am sure all of you who will meet them, will too.  They are lovely people and I look forward to meeting them again in November.

Made it to Janet's house!welldone

And if there was any doubt, she's lovely!

She was true to her word, Dan droped at the Railway museum, Janet and I doing a flying tour of York, Lakeland, and BARNET'S.

Barbara, you have a lot to answer for that one, I can tell you!!!!big_laugh

I walked out with my hands itching, I wanted to dig into it so BADLY!

All right, just quick check in now, I have no more power in my phone, so I am borrowing Janet's computer for now.

Danuta, we will see you again, VERY SOON! It will be not time before you are in Oregon!!!  big_hug big_hug big_hug
