I make no apologies for this totally irrelevant thread!
Fact is that the very best version of my all-time favourite track is regularly taken down by YouTube, I guess for copyright reasons.
You can find any amount of acoustic versions online but, IMO this live electric version is the best ever. Not sure of the year or venue.
Fans, please update this thread if this link has vanished but you can find it elsewhere. The trademark opening trumpet solo (voluntary) is the key signature, plus the authentic final guitar trio (quartet?)
Thanks,
Danny

Oooh I know, I know!!!!
This version of "Hotel California" is off of the "Farewell 1" DVD, and was taped in Australia (Sydney or Melbourne) I could give you more specifics, but my friend has my copy right now.
And just to make you jealous Danny, Dan and I are going to go see The Eagles in Portland, OR on May 17th. Nosebleed seats were all we could afford, but it should be a wonderful show. I will send out a thought to you when they do "Hotel California"!
If you can't be a shining example, be a terrible warning!
There is a thing my ex brother outlaw uses that stores things from youtube, so that if they get taken down you still have them. i shall get in touch with him when I get home and find out what it is, then send you a link to it. That way, when you find this mythical eagles video you can save it for all of time (well, until your computer crashes or gets upgraded, or you buy the dvd, or whatever)
Intolerance will not be tolerated.

Excellent, Michelle, I do so envy you guys!
I played that YouTube track twice back to back this evening. It has been a long and stressful few days because a routine job at 07:00 Friday (a holiday here in the UK) went wrong and I have been glued to the phone until midday today, Sunday, monitoring efforts to recover.
I would love to know the story of how HC was composed and orchestrated / produced. It is suche a unique piece. Rae - yes, if at all possible, please ask.

Last night, at 8:40 pm Pacific Standard time, a lone trumpeter took to the stage at the Rose Garden in beautiful Portland, Oregon, and played a long, clear note.
And the crowd of 15,000 people went nuts.
I though of you Danny, as my Husband laughed at me!
I scrunched up my face and thought "He's playing it Danny, he's playing Hotel California!!!"
My husband has always thought I was a little nuts....
They were great, even if the show had some technical glitches. The keys sung in were a smidge lower, but the musicianship never faltered, the playing was ALL THERE. These guys never missed a step.
I told my husband I could die a happy woman, since I had seen Joe Walsh perform "Life's been good to me so far" live, in person, and he was upright too!
I hope the Eagles make a trip through Europe, and you get a chance to see them. They are now one of those legend groups that you have to see before its too late. Don Henley said he and Glen Frey have been performing together for 40 YEARS. And they are still just as good.

Hey Michelle! Fantastic that you finally got to see them, and so sweet of you to think of me in the midst of that throng.
What an evocative first sentence you wrote. Reading that, I WAS there and I can hear that stirring trumpet note
Now, to celebrate (and because tomorrow is a Holiday here in the UK)
The Eagles Celebration, in quiet and rural East Anglia, England. I will tell Fiona that it's all your fault
