This is something that has been in the back of my mind for quite some time now.
In my day job we have loads of teleconferences, which are nothing more than several people having a meting on the phone rather than in an office.
I would love to hear the voices behind the user names on this forum. Fiona and I would love to do a test session and maybe more if it is fun.
Looks like it would cost each participant £0.02 per minute, so 30 minutes for a pilot run sounds affordable. Maybe we could tempt Madame Scarecrow to join in too!
This post is simply to see if anybody else would enjoy a bit of a live chat and a giggle or two (starting with my accent ).
Maybe on Wed evening November 10 at 19:00 GMT for a trial run?
Just add a post if you are up for it so we can gauge the level of interest.
We will restrict it to forum members initially and contact details will be PMed. This is the service I am thinking of using.

I kind of like the idea but rather late on a busy day for me.
Hi Danny,
We plan to travel on Tuesday (tomorrow) - I would like to participate, but not sure about the timing of this occasion. Can I say yes - initially?
(As we get older, the travel time takes it out on us! Shame, innit?)
Very intriguing Danny!
I checked out your link, wondering if the service would have a American number I could call in on, and I noticed that they have a Skype number.
I haven't Skyped yet, so I went to the website to look into it.
Danny, you'll never guess.....
Skype has a Teleconference option in Beta right now. If you try it you can have the first 28 days free. In the demo, I saw at least 6 people on at the same time.
........?.........
What do you think?
If you can't be a shining example, be a terrible warning!
A good idea, but not for me this Wednesday evening, since yet again I won't be home due to lack of kitchen...
When I looked at the site Danny suggested I thought it sounds as if it costs 2p per minute even if you normally have free phone calls. I haven't used Skype yet, but keep meaning to try it. I don't need it normally since I have free international calls, too--not to everywhere, but about 10 countries including the US.
I'd love to hear how it goes!

Well that's an encouraging response to begin with. Even if we only have 3 or 4 people on with Fiona and myself I think we kick it off and see how it goes.
Thanks for the info re Skype Teleconferencing, Michelle. We have not used Skype yet but I think it's inevitable. Skpe users can use Skype Out to connect to the UK number but I am not sure how that works or what it costs. In any case, it all looks very straightforward.
Shame that there are not more local country numbers but there are loads of cheap international call vendors on Google if anybody cannot find an alternative like Skype.
I was going tp PM peope with the call details but I guess it's probably best just to post it up here and forget about over complicating things.

I'm a maybe¦
So its dial the number then a voice will say enter the passcode, so do that then press the # button (better look at my phone, guess it must have one!) and then it will connect us all up?
Can we ring in any time during the call?
Never assume anything - except an occasional air of intelligence.
Yes indeed, Ruthie. It works like this for UK callers:
Dial 0844 84 84 84 0 and vary suave gentleman will welcome you and ask you to enter your conference code or meeting room number.
Key in 547244#
What happens next I do not know but there is usually some kind of audible signal to indicate to those already on the call that somebody else has just joined. I will probably say "Hello, who's that?"
Don't anybody fret, honestly. It's all a bit experimental.
